Austin’s Trail Conservancy is emphasizing the connection between the Ann and Roy Butler trail and the rapidly developing Rainey Street community. This area is becoming important for urban Austinite’s access to nature.

This gateway to the Trail is an important entry point that the Trail Conservation envisions improving ecological function, providing expanded recreational benefits, and increasing amenities for the neighborhood and trail-users. Blackland Collaborative is teaming with DWG. landscape architects to design a nature play component that will provide opportunities for kids to connect with nature while developing physically and mentally. The design will include best practice indicators such as biodiverse native pollinator gardens, native grass mazes, boulders and logs, loose parts play, secret paths, a stage for our future Shakespeares and actors, and other features. Construction is planned to begin in the spring of 2023. Our team will provide construction oversight and post installation monitoring.
